nobody is forcing anybody to do anything. LIght your house anyway you see fit. WHen the technology catches up, the new products will be so superior, and efficient, that you’ll have more time to focus on other important things.
December 3rd, 2009 at 3:06 am
By the government banning the edisons, they’re TRYING to force us to use CFLs. If u think that this is not important then u must not care about ur freedom.
December 3rd, 2009 at 3:14 am
SALTYWATTS u have no idea what ur talking about. U need to educate urself a bit here. Heres one issue about cfls. CFLs dont do well in cold. So explain to me how we’re suppose to use our refridgerators once Edison bulbs phase out. I guess im gona start using flashlights to see what food i wana eat or what i wana drink. Once energy efficient incandecents come out, CFLs will be history. Unless they can improve on it.

The ban is not going to include candleabra and appliance bulbs, and floodlights you morons. Keep wasting your money on stocking up, there better bulbs out every year. I just hope the police will catch you with your illegal stash of old dirty bulbs once the ban takes place. I hope somebody will turn you in. And yes, this is now the way it is going to be in America get used to, socialism is superior. MORON!
December 3rd, 2009 at 6:09 am
noreaga you neocon fool, I hope government catches you with your dirty little bulbs and destroys your collection while you watch. I cant wait until they ban big stupid trucks too, and every thing else big slobs americans like yourself use to kill the environment. Lazy fat slobs, all you care about is yourself, you dont deserve freedom cocksucker
December 3rd, 2009 at 5:40 pm
lol. you could get you one of those snazzy shake and bake led flashlights. They work pretty well, they’re cheap, and hey, they are green too!
December 3rd, 2009 at 6:35 pm
aww @ STICKEDU… did i hit a nerve? The only dummy here is U. I understand that ur a moron but i’l try to explain myself as clearly as i can so u could understand. CFLs contain MERCURY, NOT BECAUSE im saying it, because its true. I know ppl that have accidently broken these bulbs, and not being aware of it, he vacumed the pieces and got sick. He didnt know that vacuming it causes mercury to fill the air. He went to the hospital and doctors told him he has mercury inside his blood stream….
December 3rd, 2009 at 6:41 pm
STICKEDU face it, in reality, MOST ppl will not properly recycle CFLs and more mercury will kill the planet. How u figure thats saving the planet?? Cuz mayb ur a moron?? The worse thing to having incandecents is that ur light bill goes up. With the cool light quality incandecents give, to me its worth it. I”m not gona be the goverments pet, LIKE U and buy what THEY THINK is rite for them. By all the stupid comments u’ve made, u proved that u dont enjoy freedom. If thats the case, leave the US!
December 3rd, 2009 at 7:11 pm
lol “noreaga12326″ why waste ur time arguing with STICKEDU? Everybody knows hes a retard. STICKEDU, the perfect country for u to live in would be Canada. They actually do have patrol men knocking on ur door to make sure ur not using incadecents. B4 u make urself look more like a moron, do ur research. America is not just using CFLs or LEDS. Face facts. Edison bulbs are making a come back. They’re gona be more energy efficient. i outa smear some mecury on ur face and u tell me how u feel.
December 13th, 2009 at 2:47 am
Alex your the moron here. Stop making such a fool of yourself and just give up the debate here. You need to understand the new way of life, and that green is here to stay. Get rid of your wasteful lifestyle and start using your brain that is what it is for you know.

Thank you, I win..
December 29th, 2009 at 7:39 am
thank God they put mercury in those bulbs. Lying sacks of shit – shut your stupid mouth before you post, and learn more about the LIE you choose to believe before spewing your Kmart grade thoughts into the world.
moron!!!

drop this bulb and see how much you like it then.

1. Mercury is a poison–thermometers are banned, mercury silver alkalines banned. Consumer CFL is completely inconsistent with this sound public health policy of reducing mercury in the environs.
2. Coal-fired mnercury emissions? Go to the source. Scrub them out of the stack gases. That is the only way to actually make a dent in Coal-Mercury emissions.
3. Energy is fungible like cash. Savings in category (a) allows increased usage in category (b). For instance, buy more gas, or buy more stuff
January 4th, 2010 at 1:23 am
4. Distributed mercury in the atmosphere is much less of a public health threat than acute poisoning due to broken light bulbs. This idea that CFL mercury is good for you reminds me of urban diesel buses. “Oh, they save lots of fuel and reduce emissions.” True for the suburban people downwind, but the poor guy at the bus stop or walking the sidewalk gets spewed with direct soot. His personal pollution level is increased a thousand-fold.
January 4th, 2010 at 1:33 am
6. LED technology will obsolete the mercury CFL, but it may take just a few more years before the cost curves cross. Why are we forcing a very bad public health policy (incandescent ban), when with just a little more time, a much better solution will manifest naturally. Again, people quit candles without being forced. It just made sense.
7. LED technology does not emit UV light. CFL does. Paintings and fabrics are damaged by UV (and fluorescent light).
January 4th, 2010 at 1:33 am
9. A significant portion of the polulation get hedaches or triple vision when reading for more than 5 minutes in fluorescent light. We actually disable the fluorescent bulbs in our offices and put in incadescents. Why force everyone to use something that is unhealthy for a significant protion of the
8. LED is easily used in a dimmer. CFL requires expensive replacement of dimmers.
January 4th, 2010 at 3:04 am
Not if I can help it. I am starting a grass roots movement to REPEAL the incandescent ban.
January 14th, 2010 at 4:09 pm
Great video, the light bulb is the gateway to broader environmental action, that first simple action people can take to save money and use less energy. Once people start changing bulbs they go to make more positive changes.
January 19th, 2010 at 5:30 am
The bulb can help save the plant but we need to do alot moreto save the plant. The bulb is good if it is diposed of properly. If inproperly it may do alot more damage then good considering that one of the bulbs main materials is mercury.
February 7th, 2010 at 5:24 pm
This bulb can’t play zyglrox like a bulb I know….
February 9th, 2010 at 12:43 pm
@XXxESPxXX
hahaha FUCK YEAH periphery ftw
February 9th, 2010 at 10:55 pm
That’s a bit vacuous, no? I have always turned off lights when not using them, used 40W rather than 60W where sufficient, drive a small car, take the train, ride my bike…
But I don’t like poisons like mercury when there are other solutions. I don’t like the gvmt telling me what bulb to use–I can (and do) ration my energy just fine without them.
Furthermore, fluorescents really give me a headache. Went to the library today and had to leave after 20mins.
